Another workshop at The Warner House late in the summer will be to create miniature fabric landscapes. They finish to roughly 4×6 or 5×7 mats, and are stitched or fused according to the participant’s preference. Here are some examples.
Mixed Media Mosaics

I took a series of classes to learn how to make non-grouted mixed media mosaic pieces. Here are the results, and they’re very pleasing to my eyes. The glass pieces or tesserae are studio glass, and the other items are from my jewellery box. The dragon flies are from one of this year’s birthday cards (thanks, Bev!) It’s a treat to be able to enjoy things that haven’t been worn or enjoyed for ages! I made the small wall quilt several years ago, and I like the way the colours are similar.

Here we are with another preview; the finished sample of Cathedral Window blocks (first image), and the Folded Star sample (second image) for the Arts ‘n Adventures in the Cove workshops. The folded star is ready for matting for framing, or for inclusion in a pocket or tote bag. Both pieces can be completed as pot holders or small wall decorations.

This is a treat to myself – Marj Moore’s coat, juried into Quilt Canada 2008. It was part of an art exhibition at the Mennonite Heritage Gallery here in Winnipeg, and was available for sale. It’s made of silks, velvet and batik cottons, and quilted free motion. What luck for me, and I can’t wait to wear it!
Fall Workshop Preview

I really enjoy teaching! I have two short workshops coming up late next summer, so it’s time to prepare samples as teaching aids.
We’ll work on traditional, hand-stitched Cathedral Window and Folded Star/Somerset Patchwork blocks, and each session will take just one morning or afternoon.

How great is this – a shiny new web site for the New Year! I’m grateful to Ian Rountree for getting things ready for this launch. It’s rather thrilling, to be a “dot com!”
You will see that this gallery shows selected works only. We believe that what you see here is a reasonable sample of the work I do. Those viewers who know me are aware that each commission I accept is unique, so asking, “May I have one just like that in blue?” will come to naught!
Blog posts will be added only occasionally, at this point, but when I decide to share details on works-in-progress or other things, this is where they will be found.
